DAY 1: UK - Munich.
Fly to Munich where you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for one night.
DAY 2: Munich - Nuremberg - Pilsen - Prague.
Today, visit Nuremberg, Bavaria's second largest city. Carefully restored to its former glory after the bombings of World War II, the stately Old Quarter is enclosed within the town's 13th century city walls and contains a patchwork of cobbled squares, half-timbered patrician houses and ornate Gothic churches such as St Sebald, St Lorenz and the Frauenkirche. Later, cross the border into the Czech Republic and after a stop in Pilsen, world renowned for its lager, continue to the glorious Czech capital, Prague, for three nights. In the evening you could perhaps 'follow the music trail' to Bertramka, a lovely old house in the suburbs where Mozart used to stay, that now houses a dedicated museum and hosts regular chamber music concerts in the house and garden. DAY 3: Prague.
With its splendid skyline of intricate spires and historic monuments, Prague is a truly impressive city, renowned for its wonderful Baroque and Romanesque architecture. Today's included sightseeing tour includes highlights such as the National Theatre, the Baroque Church of St Nicholas, Charles Bridge and the Town Hall with its famous astronomical clock. (B)
DAY 4: Prague. At leisure.
Make the most of a day at leisure in the Czech capital either exploring on your own or by joining an optional excursion. (B)
DAY 5: Prague - Bratislava - Budapest.
Journey by way of Brno into Slovakia for a visit to Bratislava, a charming capital city dissected by the Danube and overlooked by the imposing Bratislava Castle. Later, continue across the border into Hungary for a visit to the country's beautiful capital, Budapest, where you will stay for the next three nights. (B)
DAY 6-7: Budapest.
Budapest comprises the two cities of Buda and Pest, set facing each other across the mighty Danube River. Buda is home to historic attractions such as the Castle District, with its medieval houses, inns, antique shops, museums and restaurants, dotted along cobblestone streets. Across the river, Pest also houses many fantastic attractions such as Parliament and Heroes Square. The included sightseeing tour takes in Parliament, Margaret Island, Fisherman's Bastion, the Royal Castle and Matthias Church. You also have plenty of time to explore the city at your own pace during these two days. (B)
DAY 8: Budapest - Vienna Woods - Mayerling - Vienna.
Drive through the beautiful scenery of the Vienna Woods today and enjoy a short stop in Mayerling to visit the former hunting lodge where the lovers' suicide of Crown Prince Rudolf and Baroness Maria Vetsera took place in 1889. Later, continue to Europe's music capital, Vienna, for three nights in the capital. (B)
DAY 9: Vienna.
The swirling strains of a Strauss waltz are never far away in the Austrian capital, which abounds with elegance and sophistication. This was the seat of the Habsburg dynasty for over 600 years, and their influence is apparent everywhere - from the genteel coffee houses to the Hofburg Palace, a monument to Austria's glorious past and home of the Spanish Riding School. Today's included sightseeing tour introduces you to the many delights of this historic 'city of music', once home to great composers such as Strauss, Mozart and Beethoven and also famed for its grand architecture. See the grand State Opera, the impressive Parliament building and the ornate Town Hall. Stroll in Heroes' Square to view the Hofburg Palace and also visit Strauss House where the famous composer lived from 1862 to 1878. The afternoon is free for you to explore at leisure. (B)
DAY 10: Vienna. At leisure.
The day is yours to discover more of the delights of the Austrian capital. Alternatively, you could join one of the exciting optional excursions on offer. (B)
DAY 11: Vienna - Salzburg.
Today's first stop is Krems on the banks of the Danube, a beautiful town surrounded by hills and vineyards. Enjoy an included morning cruise on the mighty River Danube, taking in the beautiful Wachau region. Later, drive to the beautiful alpine city of Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart, for one night. (B)
DAY 12: Salzburg - Munich.
Mozart's birthplace is full of Italian-influenced Baroque splendour and its skyline is dotted with picturesque medieval spires, domes and turrets. The most famous landmark is the splendid 11th-century Hohensalzburg Castle, which stands on a hill above the city. Today's included sightseeing tour with a local guide introduces you to the many highlights in Salzburg's historic centre. Tonight, why not join the optional Bavarian evening and farewell dinner? (B)
DAY 13: Munich - UK.
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK. (B)
