Itinerary for: Portugal's Silver Coast, Lisbon and Porto and highlights of Northern Spain (14PCPV/1 )

14-Day Break



  • Day 1 – Local departure then onwards to the Paris area for an overnight stay. 

  • Day 2 – Head south through France to the Bordeaux or Bayonne area for an overnight stay B, D

  • Day 3 – Into Spain, towards the Salamanca area, where we stay overnight. B,D

  • Day 4 – Salamanca (included). Spend the morning in Salamanca, a fine university city and regarded as Spain’s best example of Renaissance architecture, then to Portugal and the sunny Atlantic coast, as we arrive in Praia de Vieira, our base for seven nights B,D

  • Day 5 – A day of leisure at your hotel. B, D

  • Day 6 – Obidos (optional). Excursion to the pretty, walled town of Obidos and Quinta do Sanguinhal. See the winemaking techniques, along with a tour of the vineyard followed by winetasting and a light lunch. B,D

  • Day 7 – Lisbon (optional). Enjoy our excursion to Lisbon, capital of Portugal. A panoramic coach tour takes us around the main sights before visiting the Belem area of the city and in particular the Monument to Discoveries and the Monastery. B,D

  • Day 8 – Coimbra (optional). Enjoy an optional guided excursion taking in the pretty town of Coimbra and also a visit to the fascinating ‘Portugal in Miniature’. Continue on to Bussaco Forest to enjoy beautiful gardens and the outstanding natural beauty of the area. B,D

  • Day 9 – Porto (included). Today join our included excursion to Porto, a wonderful, walled city on the banks of the Douro River and birthplace of the famous fortified wine. Your optional guided tour will show many sights linked to Porto’s history from the 8th century BC. The scenic historical quarter and cathedral are also worth a visit before our day ends at a traditional Porto wine cellar. B, D

  • Day 10 – Relax and enjoy your last day on Portugal’s sunny coastline. B, D

  • Day 11 – Leave Portugal for your journey to Vitoria-Gasteiz area in northern Spain for an overnight stay. B,D

  • Day 12 – San Sebastián (included). On our return journey to France we stop en-route at the beautiful resort of San Sebastián, picturesquely situated on a shellshaped bay, en route to France and our overnight stay in the Bordeaux area. B, D

  • Day 13 – Travel north through France to Paris and our overnight hotel on the Paris outskirts. B

  • Day 14 – Travel to Calais for your return journey home. B
