Lunch at L'astral and Afternoon of Sightseeing £55.00
| City: Quebec City, QC |
| Ride a panoramic elevator to the 29th floor of the Loews Le Concorde Hotel, where you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at L’Astral, Quebec City’s only revolving restaurant. Known for its award winning cuisine, L’Astral rotates to provide complete views of the city and the surrounding countryside, the Plains of Abraham and the Laurentian Mountains. After lunch, drive along the “Old King's Road”— Le Chemin du Roy — which hugs the Cote de Beaupre and winds through picturesque villages on the banks of the St. Lawrence. This is the oldest road in Canada, dating back to 1737. The homes and structures along the route are evocative of Normandy and Brittany in the north of France. Stop and see where the Montmorency River plunges 272 feet off the Canadian Shield. Rising 98 feet higher than Niagara, the Montmorency Falls are particularly striking in winter when the spray freezes on the rock faces and builds an ever-growing mountain of ice at the bottom, affectionately called the “sugar loaf.” Leave the falls behind to visit the shrine of St. Anne de Beaupre. Here you will visit the basilica and take time to explore the beautiful grounds. Next, smell the aroma of fresh bread baking in outdoor ovens. Nothing evokes the taste of Quebec like the freshly baked bread slathered in maple butter at Boulangerie Chez Marie’s 1652 homestead. Then visit Atelier Paré, master woodcarver Alphonse Paré’s Economuseum. A storyteller entertains, bringing Quebecois folk legends to life in a 22-foot long carved mural. |
