Way out west

The landscape of the United States is truly remarkable, and in particular, the stunning West. From California’s outstanding coastline to the magnificent mountains and vast deserts of the old American West, the delights of Western USA are an unforgettable experience not to be missed. Be entranced by the seductive and irresistible California way of life. With nearly 900 miles of glorious rugged beaches, the state of California has a vast amount to offer the discerning traveller. In the north of California you will find the exciting city of San Francisco with its foggy atmosphere and steep hilly streets. Look in wonder at the spectacular Golden Gate Bridge, and take a ferry across to the infamous Alcatraz Island, once a notorious federal prison but now a fascinating museum. Travel to the south of California and land in Hollywood, which sits fabulously in the heart of Los Angeles. Walk along the starry streets of this entertainment hub and gaze at the iconic Hollywood sign which has stood dominantly since 1923. Cut across to the sublime Santa Monica and look across the sea from its iconic Pier, or travel a little further to Venice Beach, brimming with entertainment as one of the most flamboyant and rich cultural centres that Los Angeles has to offer.

Wonderous jaw-dropping parks

For a different experience altogether, the National Parks of Western USA are a wondrous sight to behold. The full force of nature is displayed on every twist and turn as you surrender your senses to the truly mind blowing experience of the Grand Canyon with its ancient rock formations and sublime hidden waters. The vast Yellowstone National Park spreads across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, and offers the most diverse and sumptuous landscape possible. Forests, rivers and canyons can be found in every corner of this amazing park, while wolves, bears, elk and bison roam the land. The Grand Teton National Park is also in the state of Wyoming and offers a wealth of delightful sights, including Jackson Hole and the majestic bald eagle gliding through the skies. Take time to learn about the Native American Indians whose connection with the mountains hold a deep spiritual meaning, and join a day tour to get the full experience of what Grand Teton has to offer.

Cowboys versus aliens

If that’s not enough, embrace your inner cowboy or cowgirl with visits to old western towns like Jackson and Sheridan, or enjoy some real western cooking in Montana. While in Montana visit Little Bighorn, the site where Lt. Col. George Custer made his last stand against the Native Americans fighting to save their way of life. Next, overwhelm your senses at the sight of historical monuments such as the astonishing sculptures of past U.S. presidents carved into Mount Rushmore, and Devil’s Tower - immortalised in the sci-fi classic Spielberg film “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”,

A bit of a gamble

Last but not least, no tour to Western USA can be complete without a visit to Nevada's wild and wonderful Las Vegas. This vibrant city is known for its opulent entertainment and extraordinary themed hotels. Marvel at replicas of the Eiffel Tower, the Venetian Grand Canal, and an Egyptian pyramid, experience some decadent gambling in one of the many casinos, or shop to your hearts content in the fabulous shops.
